GEOMARATHON 1.0
An initiative by AAPG UM SC 22/23 with the purpose to help 1st and 2nd year geology students with their studies
AAPG UMSC organized Geomarathon 1.0 on January 28th and 29th, 2023. The event featured 18 mentors, which are our very own second and third-year AAPG UM members. The program aimed to provide insights into answering past-year papers and clarify subjects participants were unsure about.
The event was divided into two days. On January 28th, sessions related to first-year subjects took place, covering topics such as Structures and Geological Maps, Earth Surfaces Processes, and Introduction to the Earth. On January 29th, sessions on second-year subjects were held, including Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Introduction to Geophysics, Sedimentology, and Structural Geology.
The program was open to all University of Malaya geology students interested in sharing sessions and past-year paper answering techniques led by senior AAPG UM members. Approximately 30 participants engaged in the program, actively participating in discussions and asking questions during Q&A segments. This interactive learning approach provided students with valuable insights from experienced senior peers, contributing to the program's overall success.
