JOURNEY OF A PETROLEUM GEOLOGIST

The talk about ‘Journey of a Petroleum Geologist’ is an initiative by AAPG UM SC 21/22 to enhance knowledge and interest.

Introducing our speaker for this event, Dr Mazlan Madon currently serves as advisor to the Malaysian Continental Shelf Project, under Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN), Prime Minister’s Office. He is also currently serving his second term in the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) until 2023. He has worked as a geologist with PETRONAS for 33 years from 1984-2017. His research was mainly in regional studies, basin analysis, sedimentology, and tectonics. From 2007 to 2017, he was the “Custodian” Geoscientist in PETRONAS. He was president of the Geological Society of Malaysia (2014-2017), Fellow of the Institute of Geology Malaysia and member of the Editorial Committee, Geological Society of Malaysia.
