SOFTWARE WORKSHOP (ARCGIS/QGIS)

Exploring the geospatial world with fellow geoscience enthusiasts at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

The Software Workshop (ArcGIS/QGIS) was a significant event organized by AAPG UM SC in collaboration with AAPG UKM Student Chapter. It aimed to introduce students to the advantages of geospatial software, such as ArcGIS and QGIS, in the geological field.

ArcGIS, a powerful software tool, streamlines field data collection by providing geologists with organized digital maps and forms for efficient data sharing. The workshop featured Dr. Norbert Simon, an expert in geological mapping and regional landslide research using remote sensing and GIS techniques. He served as the speaker who exposed students to geological mapping using remote sensing and GIS techniques. He also delved into regional landslide research utilizing remote sensing methods and GIS.

Participating in this workshop allowed students to enhance their skills in using ArcGIS, a valuable tool applicable across various industries, including oil and gas, and mining and quarrying. This knowledge prepares students for the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

We extend our gratitude to the event's speaker and all participants in our successful collaboration with UKM. Stay tuned for more exciting collaboration events in the future!
